Coconut Philippines Trade Fair will be at Tagum City, Davao del Norte soon!

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Davao del Norte recently spearheaded a vital Coordination Meeting, Orientation, and Action Planning session to boost the local coconut industry!

Unlocking the potential of coconut-based low carb food to promote a healthier diet, the Department of Trade and Industry – Davao del Norte Provincial Office, through its Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) Program, initiated the Coco Keto: Coconut-based Low Carb Diet on September 26, 2025 at the Atrium, Robinsons Tagum.

Ms. Floricel Tunguia Ayad, a low carb life style coach, shared her insights on the science behind the ketogenic diet, underscoring how coconut-derived products naturally complement its low-carb, high-fat requirements.

Cooking demonstrations on ice cream and burger patty using coconut as one of the main ingredients were used to give participants practical ideas on incorporating coconut into daily meals without compromising taste and nutrition.

Sa tulong ng Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) implementing agencies, nakiisa ang ATI Davao Region sa Nyog K2 DavNor Festival sa pamamagitan ng pakikilahok sa Coco Mini Trade Fair na ginanap sa Robinsons Place, Tagum City, Davao del Norte noong Setyembre 25–27, 2025. Ang event ay pinangunahan ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Davao del Norte. Pinangunahan ni Atty. Zerline T. Balleque, Provincial Director ng DTI Davao del Norte, ang opening program at siya rin ang nagbigay ng welcome message sa mga kalahok at partners.

Nagbigay rin ng mensahe ng suporta ang mga kinatawan mula sa CFIDP implementing agencies, kabilang sina Ms. Rhoieliza E. Recla, Project Development Officer III ng Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) XI, at Ms. Olivia D. Gatus, Assistant Center Director ng ATI Davao Region. Sa kanyang mensahe, binigyang-diin ni Asst. CD Gatus ang papel ng ATI sa pagpapatupad ng CFIDP sa Davao Region. Muling pinagtibay niya ang pangako ng institusyon na palakasin ang kakayahan ng coconut farmers, isulong ang sustainable practices, at pagandahin ang kabuhayan sa pamamagitan ng mga makabuluhang training.

Nainspire din ang mga kalahok kay Mr. Ervin B. More, Owner at Vice President ng Healthy Sweets Mindanao Corporation, na nagbahagi ng kanyang entrepreneurial journey sa pagtatag ng matagumpay na coconut-based agri-enterprise. Itinampok din ang COCOVATE: Innovating DavNor’s Coconut Future, kung saan nagbigay ng malalim na talakayan sina Mr. Harvy B. Desales at Ms. Henzel P. Bongas mula sa Davao Oriental State University. Ipinresenta nila ang “Prospects of Hybrid Coconut Adoption in Davao Oriental” at ipinakilala ang CocoHULIP Project (Coconut Hybrid Utilization in the Locality for Improved Productivity).

Earlier today, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Davao del Norte, through the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) and in partnership with our local Negosyo Centers and CARP Program, officially turned over premium packaging materials and customized sticker labels to two of our coconut based organizations, the Victory Farm Agrarian Reform Cooperative and Anibongan Guadalupe Coconut Farmers Organization (AGCFO).

This initiative aims to transform their locally-produced Coconut Vinegar from a community staple into a market-ready brand. By providing high-quality glass bottles and professionally designed labels, we are helping our coconut farmers to enhance product shelf life and safety, increase market competitiveness and “shelf appeal” and later boost the income of our local coconut farmers and processors.

Through the CFIDP, DTI remains committed to empowering our coconut farmers by providing the tools, training, and branding necessary to thrive in the modern market.
