  • Davao del Norte Coconut Industry Promotional Video Shoot, November 22, 2024, Panabo City & Tagum City, Davao del Norte

On November 22, 2024, a promotional video shoot was conducted in Panabo City, Katipunan, and Tagum City, Davao del Norte, with the aim of showcasing the vibrant coconut industry of the province. The shoot aimed to capture the entire coconut production process, from farm to table.

The morning session commenced with a visit to Healthy Sweets Mindanao Corporation in Panabo City. The team from Sine South Motion Pictures captured the lush coconut farms, the harvesting process, and the meticulous steps involved in transforming fresh coconut sap into delectable coconut sugar. Subsequently, they proceeded to Katipunan Small Coconut Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative to document the activities of whole nut buying and copra processing, highlighting the cooperative’s role in supporting local farmers.

In the afternoon, the team ventured to Tagum City to visit Its All About Buko Company. Here, they captured the production process of popular coconut-based delicacies such as buko pie, buko tart, and fresh buko juice. The final stop was at the DavNor Pasalubong Shop, where a variety of coconut products were showcased. Individual product shoots were conducted to highlight the unique features and benefits of each item.

The successful video shoot captured stunning visuals that effectively convey the richness and diversity of Davao del Norte’s coconut industry. The footage will be used to create a compelling promotional video that will attract local and international audiences, boosting the province’s reputation as a major producer of high-quality coconut products.

  • Market Matching and Site Visit to TAFWA Agriculture Cooperative, November 29, 2024, Magsaysay and Bansalan, Davao del Sur

The DTI-Davao del Norte, under the CFIDP, organized a market matching and site visit to empower coconut farmers’ organizations in the province. The San Remegion Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative and San Isidro Farmers Association embarked on a learning journey to two successful agricultural ventures in Davao del Sur.

The first stop was TAFWA Agriculture Cooperative, a renowned learning site for coconut production. The cooperative’s board member shared valuable insights into their journey, challenges, and best practices. Their diverse product offerings, including whole nuts, coconut peat, and coco drinks, showcased the potential of value-added coconut products.

The second site visit took the group to Lao Integrated Farm Inc., known for its organic farming practices. The farm tour highlighted their commitment to sustainability and showcased their range of organic products, such as coconut sugar, coconut syrup, and coco polvoron. This visit provided the farmers’ organizations with valuable knowledge and inspiration to explore similar opportunities and enhance their own operations.

Strategy 5: Convergence Building – Convergence and complementation of government.

  • Mindanaowide Coconut Farmer Cooperative Summit, November 25-26, 2024, SMX Lanang Convention Center, Davao City

DTI-Davao del Norte recently participated in the Mindanaowide Coconut Farmer Cooperative Summit, held at SMX Lanang, Davao City on November 25-26, 2024. The summit provided a platform for coconut farmers to connect, share experiences, and explore opportunities for growth and development.

As part of their commitment to supporting local farmers, DTI-Davao del Norte showcased a variety of coconut and intercrop-based products at their exhibit booth. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about the diverse applications of coconuts and the potential for sustainable livelihoods in the region.

By actively participating in this event, DTI-Davao del Norte demonstrated its dedication to empowering coconut farmers and promoting the growth of the coconut industry in Mindanao.
